Four Ways To Style Your Classic White Button Up

Hi and welcome back to the blog!

Today I’m going to show you how you can create four completely different and fabulous looks with the wardrobe must-have; the plain white button up shirt. This item is almost more important than the LBD to every wardrobe, but can become dull when you wear it the same way every time. So I’ll show you how to spice it up a bit!

Look 1: Beach Bound

Look 1 already proves that a white button up isn’t all business. It can be styled down and worn as a comfy over-your-swimsuit shirt on a hot beach day. Just roll up your sleeves, don’t button it right to the top, and pair it with some relaxed denim shorts and you’re good to go.

Look 2: The Monica

I absolutely love the fashion on the TV show FRIENDS- and an underrated style icon is Monica and her very androgynous looks. There’s one episode where she’s wearing her classic Levis 501’s, a mens white button up, and brogues. And luckily enough- vintage denim and brogues are very on trend at the moment so this look doesn’t scream the 90’s too obviously. The look gives off a “I stole all of this from my boyfriends closet and still look cute” message- and I’m all for masculine fashion for women!

Look 3: Bougainvillea Brunch Babe

This look surprised me- I didn’t expect to love it! But it shows the versatility of the white shirt. It can be dressed up for the office, dressed down for the beach, or dressed back up for a very formal but feminine look. Tucked into a pair of statement pants, with very simple accessories, the shirt acts as a neutraliser to an otherwise vibrant outfit.

Look 4: Old Fashioned with a Twist

I always love adding a grungy edge to outfits- and the black combat boots do that so perfectly. Again- the statement pants play the leading role, while the button up falls comfortably into it’s classic position as the formal work shirt. But have fun with work looks! Get trousers in a tartan print like these, or try a different cut. The beauty of the classic button up is that it will fit with anything you pair it with- so get creative!

I hope you found this helpful and that you’ll be having some fun with your seemingly boring wardrobe items. Tag me in any white shirt outfits you recreate- I’d love to see how you put a twist on it!
